I notice that many schools have large athletic fields
I suspect they will be used by helos after a major earthquake.
There will be a need to flood the city with disaster supplies after a
major quake. But helicopters cant fly in bad weather and they cant
land in flooded areas. And they cant land on top of collapsed or
weakened buildings. And they cant land near power lines.
Lets take a look at the roadway systems. There seems to be a good
number of major highways leading to and from the city. But do they
have solid plans to do emergency repairs to the roadways after a
quake? Tokyo FD only has maybe 5 small bulldozers and maybe 5
firetucks with plows on the front. They will not be able to clear very
many roadways. And Tokyo FD seems to have very few boats. So rescues
after a tsunami could be very problematic.
Just thinking out loud
