info from recording at Broadcastify
2210 hours recording starts
2217 .. 35 returning to quarters from Emerson Hospital in Concord ...
in background calltaker can be heard taking a call for a fire
2218 ... alert tone for garage fire at 5 Till Drive ... 24 35 22 23 assigned
2222 engine 24 at scene ... smoke showing ... strike box ... L3 in
command (Lieutenant 3]
2223 .... "here comes the water"
2224 .... "go ahead and strike the 2nd alarm"
2224 ... 2nd alarm transmitted ... 4 second tone and 8 second tone
2225 ... 35 at scene ... find a hydrant and dress it
35 is fire ambulance with 2 FF/EMT ... maybe 3 FF/EMT
'striking the box' apparently calls in all off duty firefighters ...
acton is a full career FD
"striking the 2nd alarm" apparently brings mutual aid companies to
fire and to vacant fire stations
2228 ... 23 at hydrant ... 22 out
4 minutes for first engine (24] to arrive from the new 'North Acton'
station ... then 10 minutes for the next 2 engines to arrive .... I am
not sure where Till Drive is located but I suspect it is near the
Littleton border or the Carlisle border ... checking the map, Till
Drive is not near the Carlisle nor Littleton borders .. lets map that
out at some point
the acton engine numbers come from the old numbering scheme on 46.50
iirc ... 46.50 was used by Acton, Concord, Maynard, Boxboro, and ???
... maybe it was just 4 FDs ... now each FD has their own channels on
UHF
2228 ... Maynard Eng 2 on
2230 ... Concord Eng 4 on to fire ... DOUBLE
dispatcher says that the 2nd alarm assignment is .... Boxboro Engine +
Concord Ladder + ALS + Concord Eng + Maynard Eng
note ... the Carlisle VFD was not activated it seems .. they might
have had the 2nd closest station to the fire
2231 ... Boxboro Eng 62 on to fire
2232 ... ALS 3 on from MCI Concord (jail]
2233 ... Concord Ladder on
HATE WHEN ALL THE MUTUAL AID SIGNS ON OVER THE FIREGROUND TRAFFIC
2233 ... Stow Eng 14 on to cover West Acton station
2236 ... Engine 21 on with 3 ... staffed by offduty firefighters I reckon
2237 ... Concord Eng 4 at scene .... this is 13 minutes after 2nd
alarm was transmitted
note ... dispatcher to dispatcher radio traffic is on the D14 fire net
feedback
2239 ... Maynard Eng 2 at scene
2239 ... Boxboro Eng 62 at scene
2239 ... Sudbury Eng 3 on to cover South Acton fire station
2240 ... ALS 3 and Eng 21 at scene
took 32 minutes for first medics to reach the scene ... none of these
FDs have their own medics ... ALS is supplied by 'pro EMS' a private
company
2241 ... Concord L1 at scene
took 33 minutes for first aerial to reach the scene ... Acton does
have a quint but it was not heard from at this fire ... unknown why
... https://massfiretrucks.com/Acton_Ladder_28_200927s.jpg ... no one
seem to be concerned that it took 33 minutes for the first aerial to
arrive
no Acton chief officers were heard ... maybe they were all out of town
Littleton has a quint also but they did not respond ... unknown why

I need to map out the distances to the various fire stations that were involved
