Forest Firemen Will Have to Be Careful of Cussing

A 600-watt radio transmitter installed in the forestry department's
fire control headquarters in Sacramento is the beginning of a radio
network expected to blanket the state within two years, the division
reports. The station, KALJ, is the first of six 500-watt stations to
be placed in each of California's fire control districts. Others will
be located in San Francisco, Fresno, Santa Rosa, Riverside, and
Redding. The system will provide a network of communications linking
walkie talkie stations in the fire zones with the central fire control
office in Sacramento.
