Chelan County Fire District 1 and Douglas County Fire District 2
merged after a public referendum in August 2022 - admin chiefs were
cut from 7 to 4 - and 6 more firefighters were hired to staff the Rock
Island station - ISO rating at Rock Island should go from 9 to 5 -
taxes will go up approx 10% - volunteers are down 70% in 10 years -
does that have anything to do with the IAFF? - why would less college
kids be volunteering now?

would be interesting to see if savings on fire insurance actually pays
for the tax hike
