red flag today for Mass + CT + RI - except for cape cod
1. every firefighter in the state could be offered double time pay to work today
2. every CAP plane and every helo in the state could be staffed to
either drop water or to fly fire patrols
3. every police officer could be put on duty for arson patrols or
traffic control or evacuation duty
4. every burn surgeon could be put on duty - plus every critical care
ambulance and every trauma surgeon and every ED doctor
5. every air tanker that can arrive in Mass by 2 PM could be ordered
up via Boise
6. multi wildland task forces from cape cod could be moved to the
mainland - also from Maine and NH and VT and elsewhere - gonna be too
late to call them later today
7. or do nothing and watch 20,000 homes burn or 200 people be killed -
the potential is definitely there - it is not hard to see - look at
Paradise CA or Gatlinburg TN - look at Maine 1947 or Chelsea 1973 or
Boston ?1872? - it is not that hard to imagine a major fire taking out
20,000 homes in Massachusetts - having 300 fire trucks at a fire does
not do you much good if they are all on 1 radio channel
8. question - what exactly is the radio plan for any major wildfire in
Massachusetts - is it the same plan as was used in Lawrence? -
remember the Lawrence report that cited major radio issues? -
practically nothing has been done since to make real improvements - or
we are totally out of the loop here at Zerg90 World HQ
9. question - how many pre-designated air to ground radio channels are
available for wildfire control in Massachusetts? anyone? anyone?
anyone?
10. question - if 10,000 homes do burn - will the politicians all say
- "we need more taxes" ?
