heard via scanner feed
all fire and ems units are apparently dispatched on XME Red (aka
county red) - which is 153.95R iirc - there are multi repeater sites
on that channel - apparently the dispatcher switches between sites
manually - field units can key up on 1 site when the dispatcher is
ending out calls on a different site - 3 quick beeps preceed each
toneout - all calls are paged with tones sets and dtmfs and analog
voice
command channel and a tac channel are assigned for each call - all ems
calls get (county) red for command and calcord for tac
cal fire units apparently use MEU LOCAL for admin messages - on air
for training - going to a work site - returning to home at end of day
- (and maybe that channel is the 2ndary command channel for the county
also)
tone seconds are 1 second + 1 second
ambulances are also dispatched on XME RED
all units sign on the air when responding - and announce their arrival
on scene - and announce when they are rtq - and maybe announce when in
quarters also
the 1100 engines are the cal fire engines - they are the only engine
numbers given on initial dispatches usually - such as the earlier call
for Chief 7500 and crew - the debris fire call was announced for Eng
1155 and South Coast Fire - Eng 1155 was the cal fire engine that
responded - from south coast fire was - Chief 7500 (75hundred) +
Utility 7540 + Eng 7582 + Water Tender 7590 + WT 7591 - chief 7500
requested a 2nd cal fire engine which he thought would be Eng 1451
from Sonoma County - chief 7500 initially said that Command 8 was not
working for him so XME Red was assigned as Command - Tac 6 was the tac
channel
An earlier EMS call near Boonville got Eng 1165 (from cal fire
boonville sta ) + Anderson Valley Ambulance (Amb 5421 from the
Boonville Clinic ) + Anderson Valley Fire (Chief 7400 and Rescue 7431)
- response time was approx 9 minutes - the call was approx 3 miles
from closest unit - 1165 and 7400 and 5421 all signed on within 2
minutes - R7431 signed on in 10 minutes)
for the south coast call - WT7591 signed on in 15 minutes - WT 7590
signed on in 13 minutes - Eng 7582 signed on in 9 minutes - Utility
7540 signed on in 7 minutes - Eng 1155 and Chief 7500 signed on in 1
minute - Chief 7500 arrived in 2 minutes - not sure when 1155 arrived
- dispatcher asked chief 7500 if he wanted more units when he signed
on - he said to standby - that was probably a prompt to get the
airtankers and helos going - they were never dispatched and apparently
were never needed - the fire was held to less than half acre it seems
- at 230 pm edt eng 1155 released all south coat units except their
engine - they did heavy overhauling in the brush for 1 hour on a 10 X
20 fire - could hear chain saw in operation
