- could probably reuse the freq 5 or 6 times throughout the city - so
disaster ops could be done on 2 channels - 483.1625 simplex for
dispatch - 486.20 simplex for FG
tokyo harbor - satellite view shows only approx 10 large ships tied up
- Kawasaki has multi petroleum tanks along waterfront - wont be good
if a tsunami hits - waves of flames will hit the city - could build a
barrier to the south - if tsunami hit tokyo bay now, maybe 30 million
could be killed or displaced - thats a wild guess based on 10M pop for
tokyo alone - multi other major cities line the Bay
iirc the fukishima quake was stronger that expected - maybe a 9.0 -
has anyone in the world upgraded their disaster plans / hazardous
mitigation plans based on this?
tokyo's major airport sits right alongside the harbor - there are few
open spaces in the city to land helos - but many highrises might have
helipads on the roof - what is their response plane for a 9.0 quake?
maybe they can get every helo in the country to fly to tokyo - bring
in emergency supplies and leave with the injured - huge areas have 2
story homes - if a conflagration started, they could burn millions of
tons of plastic
I wonder if Tokyo has plans to use trains in disaster relief? do they
ever practice this? tokyo DPW will be critical after a major quake -
gonna need lots of bulldozers to get thru neighborhoods
remember the india / pakistan study? nuclear winter will happen based
on how the cities burn
