recap of Miami Surfside collapse - 8 minutes

https://youtu.be/2INrz2u9-sQ

nice timeline and animation

bottom line - garage deck fell - damaged some columns - columns
finally crumbled and brought down building

----------------------------

question - why didnt fire alarm system activate?

question - why didnt someone pull a fire alarm?

question - did people really hear noises 24 hours or 30 minutes before collapse?

didnt anyone hear 30 car alarms going off?

big big big question - which I have asked since the beginning - if
there are multi layers of structural integrity in the building - how
and why did this collapse progress to such a significant degree?

could bad concrete be a systemic big issue here?

note - final photo after debris removed - no evidence of a sinkhole or
subsidence under the garage slab

shouldnt the building / garage have survived the loss of 2 or 3 columns?

I suppose if you add up - possible bad concrete + water infiltration
+ poor joints + badly poured concrete + overloaded roof + salt air +
previous hurricane force winds + bad design + maybe bad rebar - then
you get a mess
