Yosemite Natl Park Uses Paid Vols for SAR

the summertime SAR crew members are only paid when they respond to a
call - there are approx 250 calls each summer - SAR vols are provided
with a tent cabin (which seems to be standard for Yosemite summer
employees) - SAR vols are deemed to be 'on-call' 50% of the time

SAR vols are also used for ambulance calls

between fire and EMS - Yosemite sure seems to have a boatload of
unique hiring arrangements
