boston fd desperately needs quints

https://youtu.be/UA9a_Y_KDs0

video of aftermath of 4 alarm fire on irma st in dorchester

rigs are parked 5 blocks away from the fire - and the fire street is
wide open (sorta - room for 2 or 3 quints in there)

why does boston not have any quints? my guess - there is no rational
explanation - but there is probably a shit ton of ulterior motives

which is a bigger factor? sexism - ableism - religion - classism -
racism - pedanticism? lol - take your pick

we did a rough calculation a long time ago - if Boston converted all
of their companies to quints - they would need to close down 1 company
iirc - or may be layoff 4 people - something like that - maybe with a
large purchase the city could get a price break and not need to cut
any staffing to cover the capital costs of the new quints

correct me if I am wrong - Boston Engine 20 used to be a real honest
to gawd quint company in the 1980s - and one of the aerial towers
around 1990 had a big pump on board

arlington ran a quint at engine 3 for maybe 10 years - approx 2010 to 2020

brookline eng 4 was a quint for about 10 or 15 years also - maybe 2000
to present - it ran as both engine 4 and ladder 4 depending on the
call iirc

stoneham has had a quint for 20 years

its not like quints are a novelty in the boston area - iirc there are
approx 100 to 150 in massachusetts presently
