just to state the obvious - radio jargon from boston fire department
Engine 5 - you cancel the truck
OK Engine 5 - you want Ladder 2 to return - Ladder 2 you can return -
Ladder 2 is returning
(that was engine 5 telling the dispatcher to cancel Ladder 2 and have
them return to their fire station because Ladder 2 was not needed at
the incident that Engine 5 was handling)
in other words - for boston fd - "return" = "cancel your response" =
go clear = your ready (DC) - go in service = 10-2 (or whatever) = go
available - or like chicago pd used to say - (maybe still do) - "take
a complete disregard"
