Fire protection districts are legal arms of government that exist in
Oktibbeha County primarily to facilitate improvements to insurance
class ratings. Each residence or commercial building within an FPD can
be no more than four road miles from a fire station, so some locations
in the county are not within an FPD. However, every location in the
county is within the response area of one of the thirteen fire
stations. All residents of Oktibbeha County have fire protection, but
only some have lower insurance rates.

question - are there any states that do not have FPDs? - maybe alaska
and hawaii and maine and new hampshire - but maine has ross corner vfc
that is on the waterboro and shapleigh border - its not a municipal FD
but it does not have a tax rate - it is supported financially by the 2
towns iirc - new hampshire has north walpole fire precicnt maybe
maybe the census bureau can tell us which states dont have FPDs
note - our definition of a fpd is - a governmental agency that sets
its own budget and tax rate in order to operate or support a FD -
although some FPD might have their tax rate set by county
commissioners - so the bottom line might be - a governmental agency
that has its own tax rate yadda yadda
