no tax money
how do they manage to do that?
Self-Sustaining Non-Profit Entity
At EWAA, we stand apart from many non-profit, commercial, municipal,
or hospital-owned EMS systems with our self-sustaining financial
model. We do not rely on direct municipal funding. As a (501)C3
non-profit entity, we efficiently manage all expenses, including
insurance, staff payroll, training, medical equipment, and operational
costs, through patient billing, donations, and fund drives. This
financial stability ensures seamless flexibility in our services,
guaranteeing an uninterrupted commitment to those we serve.
Exemplary Coverage
For over 44 years, the Town of East Windsor has experienced the
tremendous benefits of our services. In 2022 alone, we responded to
over 4500 requests for service in more than 19 towns. Our regular
staffing level comprises a minimum of two advanced life support (ALS)
Paramedic ambulances operating 24 hours per day. From 06:00 AM to
10:00 PM, we additionally staff a third ambulance at either the BLS or
Paramedic level. Remarkably, our busiest days witness the presence of
a fourth ambulance, a testament to our dedication even in a community
of 11,000 residents. Mutual aid to our community is seldom required,
and we proudly operate regionally, providing assistance to any
community in need. Should all crews be committed to emergencies, we
have additional staff on call to man extra ambulances.
Mutual Aid
We extend our services to all communities in need through a mutual aid
system. Each community can request our assistance if it benefits the
situation at hand. Additionally, we offer the option for communities
to include us in their mutual aid call lists, fostering a
collaborative approach to emergency medical services.
