The Insurance Services Office (ISO) recommends a ladder company in
response districts encompassing five or more buildings that are three
stories or 35 feet or more in height, or with five buildings that have
a needed fire flow greater than 3,500 gallons per minute, or any
combination of these criteria. These criteria are inclusive of those
buildings protected by an automatic sprinkler system.
