someone is trying to make sense of the rural San Diego County fire operations
its not easy to conceptualize
it appears that the 5 seasonal Cal Fire stations close down completely
in the winter - except for the Flinn Springs Station which stays open
with staffing from the County FD to operate the 3 county rigs - but
the County FD is staffed by Cal Fire employees - maybe a better way to
describe this is - in the summer the Flinn Springs Cal Fire station
operates 1 or 2 Cal Fire TY3 engines - plus the 3 county owned rigs -
in the winter - just the County owned rigs are staffed
its possible that the seasonal stations and rigs use Cal Fire FF1
staff - aka college kids - they apparently just work in the summer
time - but they might be used to staff both the Cal Fire rigs and
maybe the County owned rigs
just to confuse things more - the USFS just staffs their stations
during daylight hours pretty much
