In 2023, Canada's wildfires released more planet-warming carbon than
fossil-fuel emissions from all but three countries, a new study found.

Only China, the United States and India produced more emissions from
burning fossil fuels than the Canadian fires, according to the study.
The findings could upend key calculations on the pace of global
warming.
