usa public safety radio systems - overview

local governments - major cities and suburbs have mostly gone to
700/800 TRS - small remote cities also - the rest are on vhf high band
or uhf - barely anyone left on lowband (CHP 39 mhz and 42 mhz ish)

state governments use a mixture of VHF high and UHF - and some state
have robust statewide 700/800 TRS - MI LA OH RI OH - some states have
UHF TRS - WV - some states have VHF high TRS - ME ND MO - some state
DOT are still on 47 mhz (FL CA ish)

federal government - military uses low band for troops and uhf for
some aircraft - military bases use vhf high and uhf - homeland
security uses high band and maybe uhf - fbi uses 170 mhz maybe - atf
uses vhf high - wildfire uses vhf high - dea uses uhf and vhf high -
national guard units have low band and high band (and uhf for
aircraft)
