radical 3rd service ems propaganda
no response times mentioned - they hate the Benham FD
lets think about this logically - when something bad happens to or in
a human body - we as a society have a few options - we can ignore the
problem and the person - they will either live or die - this is a very
low cost approach
we can spend lots of money and maybe extend someones life - this can
be a very expensive concept - you could have a hospital on every
street corner - but that would be very expensive
a middle of the road approach requires some hard thinking - what is
the best way to spend money to fix broken humans?
lets look at the physical realities - brain cells start to die in
maybe 2 minutes - heart cells start to die in maybe 2 minutes also -
this is not good
a good rule of thumb seems to be that you lose 10% of folks for every
minute without cpr - this might only apply to heart attack victims
massive bleeding probably starts to kill off cells in 1 minute - since
diminished nutrients are being delivered by the blood to the body
instant death can be caused by massive explosions or impacts - the
body is literally torn apart - we have no science to fix that - unless
someone can perfect head transplants - apparently you would have to
match the guy with the crushed skull to the guy with the crushed body
- just 1 person would survive - but thats better than 2 dead people
what is the role of the 911 service or the ambulance service in all of
this? in seems very obvious that the faster the response ; the better
the results - this would be based on simple biological principles
a quick 911 response that results in quick cpr or quick airway
clearance or quick blood loss control sure seems to be the correct way
to address the emergency - and this needs to be followed by rapid
transport to a hospital with imaging, surgery, lab test, etc
maybe the authors of this study think that response time is not
critical - maybe they have lots of data that 'shows' that - or maybe
they are grossly misinterpreting the data - wouldnt be the first time
the insurance companys in the USA apparently affix a Class 10 ISO
class to any building that is more than 5 miles from a fire station -
apparently they are strongly convinced that response times do matter -
(Class 10 basically means that there is no fire department)
