Though there were some very short-sighted -- but in-the-moment
rational -- policies when we ended (cease-fired) the Korean War, the
relocation of Seoul's population -- away from their lethal trip-wire
position right next to the DMZ -- has been long, LONG overdue.
The stubborn, short-sighted stupidity of keeping South Korea's capital
and largest city (Seoul) within a hand-grenade's throw of the North
Koreans, for over half a century, has constantly crippled our ability
to provide a fully credible defense of South Korea... especially
against a mentally unstable North Korean dictator.
But then, we're still rebuilding one of our own major cities (New
Orleans) -- again below the sea-level of the surrounding ocean --
after decades of experts warning it was living on borrowed time behind
thin dikes and levees, and then after a moderate hurricane largely
destroyed the city, and while a recent rainstorm flooded it, again.
Stubbord, short-sighted stupidty is just a human trait.
