its official - the usa officially sucks now
just as a point of info - Jakarta has opened approx 10 new temporary
fire stations in the last couple of years - they put a red mobile home
(the size of a big horse trailer) up on jacks on a street corner - and
park a pumper next to it
they have probably cut response times in half to 500,000 people by doing this
I misjudged the Jakarta FD earlier - I was thrown off by the fact that
their stations mostly look like huts and they have only 4 or 5 aerials
- but they are very similar to Tokyo - probably 75% of their streets
cannot be entered by an aerial - nor a full size pumper - so most
Jakarta statins have a quick attack truck (on a pickup truck chassis)
- and either a small pumper or a medium sized pumper
so they could be running 100 more aerials - they have the manpower -
but they really cant use them
