do everything on channel 1
if a major incident is starting to unfold on channel 1 - and if a 2nd
incident is reported - tell the units that are assigned to the 2nd
incident to switch to ch 2 - and then dispatch the 2nd call on ch 2
but since chelsea is only running 3 engines and 2 ladders - and a
first alarm takes all of those units - then there will never be a need
to move anyone top channel 2 - generally speaking
any mutual aid units coming in to cover can use ch 2 - any mutual aid
units going in to chelsea to go to the scene can use ch 1
this procedure will eliminate the current need to switch radio
channels on every box alarm
both procedures require a dispatcher to monitor 2 radio channels
if 2 dispatchers are not available - or only half a dispatcher is
available - then channel 1 can be the main channel - and any major
incident can be run on ch 2 by the IC - with the IC required to
monitor ch 1 and ch 2 - with IC to dispatcher comms on Ch 1
blah blah blah - I have been posting stuff like this for years and
years - and no one pays any attention - and then I see LA City cops
getting bonked on a NON TRUNKED SYSTEM - thats friggin insane! - where
are the unions? - dont they care about the union members at all?
