2022 Crane Flat Helibase Plan.pdf
this is not really a helibase plan - it is a full fledged helo ops
plan - many details given
seems that the pilot and mechanic live at crane flat in trailers - but
everyone else lives at ?Tuolumne Meadows? - there might be a fuel
truck driver also
not quite sure what they do for rappel vs short haul - apparently they
do NOT have a hoist - would be cool if they could lower a medic
anywhere in the park - maybe not at top of some mountains - but most
of them - highest mtn is 12K or 14K feet iirc - thats pretty high
looks like the NPS provides 2 helitack crews of 4 people each - 1 must
be an emt I guess since they jave an ems pack and they supposedly
respond to ems calls
law enforcement is recon only - but they have rules about carrying
assault rifles lol
not really sure how many hours a day they usually work - gonna guess
they have at least 2 pilots supplied by contractor - in which case
maybe they could be available 16 hours per day at peak season - with
two 8 hour shifts - 1 pilot plus 4 crew members on each shift -
knowing the feds - they probably make the pilot hang around at Crane
Flat for 16 hours per day unless he flies more than 8 hours
no mention of a jaws of life on the helo - that might come in very
handy - YNP probably only has 3 Jaws - 1 in valley + 1 at wawona + 1
at el portal - or maybe they just have 1 at el portal
