small fire district in missouri - financial report

https://auditor.mo.gov/LocalGov/ViewReportFile/50870

there is a mississippi / scott county FPD per
https://auditor.mo.gov/LocalGov/ViewReportFile/50869 - 4/6/2023 -
https://archive.is/xZ5Nb - they spend $100K per year to protect $100M
in property - they have $200K in the bank - they contract with East
Prairie FD and Charleston FD paying each $57K per year -
https://web.archive.org/web/20230406143437/https://auditor.mo.gov/LocalGov/ViewReportFile/50870
- seems that 95% of their coverage area is in Mississippi County and
5% is in Scott County approx

=====================

please note -

1. they have no trucks no staff no stations no nothing

2. they levy taxes in 2 counties - Scott County and Mississippi County

3. they have $200,000 in the bank - WHY?

4. they pay $57K to Charleston FD annually and they pay $57K to East
Prairie FD annually - both of them are in Mississippi County
apparently

5. the people of the fire district are basically paying $100,000 per
year to protect $100 million of property - afaik it is mostly farm
land and farms

6. would be interesting to see if any burning buildings are ever saved
or if this is just totally a waste of time and effort and money

7. would also be interesting to see if they save $10 million in fire
insurance premiums every year - in which case this would totally be -
'your money for nothing and your chicks for free'
