New fire maps increase hazard zones in L.A. and Southern California by 3.5 million acres

https://hsjchronicle.com/new-fire-maps-increase-hazard-zones-in-l-a-and-southern-california-by-3-5-million-acres/?amp

1. the new requirements are very very tame - only new homes are
affected basically

2. these zones are only wildfire zones - they are NOT urban fire zones
- see the end of this article

3. therefore - seems to us that this is all a major nothing burger

think of it this way - the next time there is a red flag - if a palm
tree catches on fire in South LA - and if LAFD cant get an engine to
the scene in under 10 minutes - then the odds are 50/50 that another
10,000 homes will burn - and South LA is 5 miles from any brush areas

ie - this is a urban conflagration issue - this is a building fire
issue - not a brush fire issue

if Los Angeles ever has a major earthquake on a red flag day - they
are doomed - the entire city will burn to the ground - they dont have
any cisterns - they dont have any hose that civilians can put on
hydrants - they dont have any volunteer firefighters - they might have
lots of swimming pools in some areas but they dont have any portable
pumps - they dont have any tanker trucks - Los Angeles City only has
150 pumpers to protect 1 million buildings - ( Los Angeles County has
3 million buildings in total ) - you do the math
