brown univ shooter almost got away with it

we just read thru the affadavit once - this is what apparently happened

shooter fires 44 rounds at brown - then goes to brookline mass and
kills MIT proff

witnesses at brown gave police description of the perp - police
scoured videos and found the perp fleeing - that video was released to
public

(he did have a distinct walk)

then someone posted to reddit and told the cops to look for a sentra
with fl tags - so the cops rechecked the videos and spotted the car -
the flock cameras (then) gave 14 hits on the car and gave the plate -
then cops contacted Alamo in Boston and got the perps details

[ somehow the cops found the storage place rental in salem nh - and
then found the perp - maybe the irs agents found some detail - they
cross referenced the gmail address on the hotel signin - but how did
they find the hotel? anyhow ]

if the tip had never been posted to reddit - maybe the cops would have
never found the car - the perp would have returned the car to hartford
and dissappeared to wherever

still need to research this further but it seems that the tip on
reddit appeared on Dec 15 and that was the day that the mit proff was
killed - is it possible that the tip posted to reddit spooked the perp
and caused him to kill the mit proff on Dec 15 and then kill himself
shortly thereafter?

if the post to reddit had not been made - the perp could have killed
the mit proff at any time and then just dissappeared into thin air

but why did the perp rent the storage space? was suicide his plan B?
(with Plan A being the 'perfect crime"?)
