am airtanker is assigned to a wildfire - the airtanker will remain
assigned to the fire until it is released by the IC - unless the
airtanker is diverted to a new start by the dispatch center - unless
the IC has ordered a "no divert" for the fire
maybe the 'no divert' policy should be changed into a 'conditional
release' policy - under a 'conditional release' policy the IC and the
dispatch center have to negotiate the placement of aircraft
if a fire will burn itself out in one hour - then there really is no
need for a no divert - unless the fire will consume 5 nursing homes in
that hour
if one fire will kill 100 people and a 2nd fire will kill 101 people -
then the airtanker has to divert to the 2nd fire
if a fire is approaching a community that has full fire insurance vs a
community that hs no fire insurance - then maybe the airtanker should
divert to the community that has no fire insurance
