back in the old days "10-4" meant "message received" now people say - we have it + responding + roger + roger that + received + message received + clear + have it + we're clear + OK + copy that + thank you + we're responding + we received + we received the message + we have the call + we have the message + we received the call + copy received + copy understood + yup + right anyone see a problem here? one problem is that messages are easier to receive when the brain is trained to expect certain words - and with everyone using different words - message handling can be much more difficult a second problem is that ambiguity runs wild when everyone is using their own private lingo - what does 'clear' really mean? - does it mean 'message received' or does it mean 'disregard the run' or does it mean "are you available for a call?" or does it mean "turn off the encryption" or does it mean that the "transmission was static free"?
