washington county pennsylvania area
they have slipon pumps for pickup trucks and atvs and hose and
portable pumps - state forestry concentrates on inaccessible areas -
VFDs handle the rest

"As of January 2018, Forbes Forest District has 83 trained volunteer
forest fire wardens with crews and equipment and 22 district employee
forest fire wardens who help suppress wildfires. Forest Fire Wardens
have been engaged in forest fire protection work in Pennsylvania for
over 100 years"
I think this means that 22 state employees serve as leaders of some
volunteer "state" wildfire firefighters (paid by state or have
insurance thru state) - plus 83 other non state employees lead 83 (non
state employees) volunteer forest fire crews (and I suspect that most
of those people are members of local VFCs - so they get insurance thru
their VFCs)
I suspect that all of the forest fire equipment is either owned by the
state or the VFCs - I dont think that most of volunteer forest fire
wardens have any equipment of their own - many of the volunteer forest
fire wardens might actually be local VFC chiefs or local VFC deputy
chiefs
Actually - maybe the 83 wardens are VFC people with helpers - and the
22 state employees are kinda independent (dual hatted state employees
who also do maintenance work on the state forests)
