covid deaths in usa - 78% over age of 65

https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Provisional-COVID-19-Deaths-by-Sex-and-Age/9bhg-hcku

the first lines on this data table are for both males and females -
there have been 604,000 "covid" deaths between 1/1/2020 and 7/21/2021
- [ there are more columns here for pneumonia deaths and covid /
pneumonia deaths - I suspect the distinction comes from the death
certificates and what is listed as primary cause vs secondary causes ]

you then have to hunt and peck thru the age ranges - they overlap
because CDC is throwing data into this table from multi sources

OK - I found this info for age ranges and deaths due to "covid" (aka -
straight covid)

0 to 17 - 237 deaths

18 to 29 - 2470 deaths

30 to 39 - 7074 deaths

40 to 49 - 18,810 deaths

50 to 64 - 95,705

(cant read my notes - some numbers might be a little off)

65 to 74 - 134,045

75 to 84 - 164,536

85 to infinity - 178,151

total deaths due to straight covid - 601,124

looking at 65 and over - (134K + 164K + 178K ) / 601K = 78%
