Alabama wildfire protection ... areas of responsibility

Protection Areas and Boundaries:

• The Alabama Forestry Commission has primary wildfire protection
responsibilities on all private and state-owned land as directed by
Alabama Law.

• The National Park Service has primary wildfire protection
responsibilities on lands within the legislative boundaries of the
following National Park Service Units in Alabama.
 Gulf Islands National Seashore, Ocean Springs
 Vicksburg National Military Park, Vicksburg
 Natchez Trace Parkway

• The Forest Service has primary wildfire protection responsibilities
for all lands administered by the National Forests in Alabama except
for the Tuskegee N.F. An agreement is in place with the Alabama
Forestry Commission to provide initial attack on lands under Tuskegee
Ranger district administration.

• The US Fish & Wildlife Service has primary wildfire protection
responsibilities for all lands administered by the US Fish and
Wildlife Service in Alabama.

• Other agencies did not identify any specific wildfire protection
responsibilities. It is assumed that their primary wildfire protection
responsibilities for all lands administered by their agency.
