at the very beginning of the video it says - "association of volunteer
fire chiefs and firefighters of the philippines incorporated" - and
you see that many rigs have signs with the phone number 16016 - the
video shows approx 100 or more fullsize modern pumpers and tankers
plus 1 or 2 aerials - and the video shows them parading thru the city
with firefighters draped all over them
apparently what we have here is on the larger volunteer fire
associations in the metro manila area - what ties them together is the
16016 phone number / dispatch system
bottom line - it seems that metro manila area is served by at least 5
fire groups - if you want the paid firefighters you dial 911 or 112 or
whatever - if you want the 'philippines vols' you dial 10616 - if you
want 'phillipines vol brigades' you dial 522-2222 - if you want
Chinese FD you dial 625-4888 - if you want a txtfire vol brigade you
dial 561-1111 - many of the barangays / neighborhood councils also
have small pumpers - they might be reached mainly via 561-1111 - not
sure about that
since everyone has a cellphone these days - it seems reasonable to
assume that any major fire will get called into all 5 of these phone
numbers at the same time - so you could have a response of 50 engines
on the first alarm depending on how bad the callers made the fire seem
and probably nothing stops any volunteer firefighter from listening to
the city police and fire radio channels - and then calling in an alarm
to his volunteer dispatcher based on those radio reports
