lets set some basic rules for public safety radio communications in
the year 2023
1. once a person or a team is dispatched to an emergency scene - they
will have direct contact with the dispatcher the entire time that they
are responding to, operating at, and leaving the incident - without
changing channels
2. radio comms can be difficult in valleys and gulleys and tunnels and
basements and dense buildings etc - this is well known - the answers
can include MO3 and BDA etc - money has to be found to accomplish this
at a 99% level
3. all units responding to a particular emergency need to be able to
talk amongst themselves
4.dispatcher needs to be able to talk over field units
5. doubles must be prevented
6. public safety radios needs to be strong and lightweight and have
strong batteries - you know - the usual stuff
These are just the very basic requirements - but they might get very
lost in a 1000 page RFP
