Australia - NSW RFS getting MDTs in all 5,000 vehicles

https://gfmc.online/2022/07-2022/nsw-rfss-emergency-response-systems-to-be-digitally-transformed.html

let me give you some of the back story on this

New South Wales (NSW) is 1.2 times bigger than Texas in terms of land
area - its huge

NSW has 2 primary fire services - the NSW FD and the NSW Rural FD (my
terms - but very close to the actual names)

NSW FD protects the cities and villages with paid firefighters and
paid on call firefighters - they have approx 335 stations - possibly
they cover every city and village that has more than a population of
5,000 people - each of their stations has at least 1 full size
structural pumper (maybe 750 gpm with 500 gallon tank - iirc they use
hard reel lines for interior fire attack)

NSW Rural FD protects everything outside of the cities and villages -
they have approx 1,100 stations staffed by volunteers / unpaid
firefighters - each of these stations typically has 2 or 3 fire
vehicles - a small pickup truck smoke chaser engine + a medium sized
engine with maybe a 500 gallon tank and a 100 GPM pump + a full size
engine ("Category 1 tanker" iirc) with maybe a 700 gallon tank and a
200 gpm pump - most of these units are set up to handle wildfires but
they also respond to bld fires and car crashes and misc emergencies
(but not ems calls it seems) - some of the stations are in hamlets
with only 100 people - possibly the Rural FD units do not have SCBA
and they dont have Jaws - they might not have structural fire coats
and pants also (some might if they have assigned "village districts"
to protect - (1 slight correction - 99% of stations have a Cat 1
tanker - 50% also have a smaller mid sized tanker)

ALL units are dispatched out of just 2 fire dispatch centers - 1 in
Sydney and 1 in Newcastle

The Rural FD use a radio network of 420 Mhz conventional repeaters
(per rrdb) - we think that one channel on 148 mhz and one channel at
420 mhz is used to activate digital pagers for ALL of the stations
)both the volunteer Rural FD and the paid FD)

==============

also - road crash extrications are typically handled by the vols of
the State Emergency Service - or by police rescue squads - or by
independent volunteer rescue squads - etc - maybe primarily by the
paid FD actually - this seems to be in flux

Ambulances are operated by the NSW Ambulance Service which covers the
entire state - they might have stations in every city with more than
5,000 population - with 3 or 4 ambulances in 1 bld staffed by fulltime
paid staff iirc - they have 225 stations - they also fly 12 medevac
helos from 6 bases - and they fly 5 medevac planes out of Sydney

Police are statewide - they are all paid afaik

state forestry and federal forestry and federal fish and game also
operate wildfire units - ish

=====================

putting this into perspective - it would be like dispatching every
fire station in California out of 2 dispatch centers - and putting
MDTs in every fire truck - (not sure on the size of CA vs TX - but we
are guessing they have an almost equal number of fire stations)
