new braunfels texas - hospitals and ERs

https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=19Z6aPfzA5z_mTD9_XE4dVdtC9ce8BENe&usp=sharing
- zerg90 map of Comal County - please see the 'hospitals and ER' layer

so far we have located 4 free standing ERs and 2 hospitals and 1 rehab hospital

all of the free standing ERs and hospitals claim to be open 24/7 and
to be staffed with doctors

gonna assume that the rehab hospital has 1 MD on duty in house 24/7

there also might be a medevac helo at the New Braunfels Airport 24/7

New Braunfels covers 44 square miles and has a population of 90,000 -
the FD has a medic ambulance at each of 6 stations - soon to be 7
stations - New Braunfel is the county seat of Comal County which is
between San Antonio and Austin iirc

the two hospital ERs are classified as Level 4 / Basic trauma centers
- texas has a list of trauma centers on line here at
https://www.dshs.texas.gov/sites/default/files/emstraumasystems/Trauma/pdf/etrahosp.pdf
- there are - 21 Level 1 + 26 Level 2 + 60 Level 3 + 198 Level 4 -
gonna guess that Level 1 and 2 have a surgeon in house or nearby 24/7
- but level 3 and 4 do not

For New Braunfels - it looks like overall there is a minimum of 6 ER
MDs on duty 24/7 - you might add a 7th at the rehab hospital (which
probably does not have an emergency entrance but they might have a MD
in house 24/7)

New Braunfels could staff two Level 1 trauma centers if I did my
calculations correctly - with 3 MDs in each trauma center 24/7 - you
could actually have "2 major ERs" with 1 surgeon + 2 medical doctors
on duty 24/7 in each "major ER" - good locations might be 327 at 46
and at I35 at 46 - east and west of downtown at the major interchanges
- but we really have no idea how the roads work in that area

Worcester Mass also has a population of 100,000 - they have a Level 1
trauma center and a regular hospital ER

note - each of the free standing ERs in New Braunfel also seems to
have CAT scans and some lab facilities - they list cash prices for
procedures and lab tests (both in house and out of house) - setting a
broken bone costs $200 - no prices listed for gunshots or trampled by
horse or car crash - concussions might be $200

note - is it possible that the 2 level 4 trauma centers also have
inhouse doctors 24/7 in addition to the ER doctors? maybe for the ICUs
or wards?
