NZ fire magazine Dec 2022

https://fireandemergency.nz/assets/News/Ignite/IGNITE-Issue-26-Summer-2022.pdf

1. NZ has a fd at scott base in antarctica - 30 on call firefighters

2. research shows wildland FFs get more carbon monoxide from portable
pumps than from fire smoke

3. autistic firefighter

4.fire prevention push

5. new foam

6. training with DOC firefighters - DOC is Department of Conservation
- they protect National Parks etc

7. all female fire crew

8. feilding fire brigade shares their station with the rural fire crew
- but it seems to me that very few NZ locations actually have a rural
station that is close to a structural station - its unlike anything in
the usa - except maybe in california maybe in the 1940s or 1950s -
with cal fire and usfs in the hills and the mountains - and the cities
covered by city FDs and fire districts - cal fire slid into the
structural fire business but the rural NZ FDs didnt until 2017
