7:23 - Engine 2 reports firefighter thru the floor

Question - were those clicks around 6:59 Engine 1 trying to call for help? It would not surprise me if they were.
If you dont understand how a modern UHF radio repeater system typically works - then its probably pretty hard to understand what is going on here. The most simple explanation is - the radio signals from Engine 1's radio have to reach a radio receiver site in order to be heard. The receiver sites in Arlington might be at the police station; on Turkey Hill, and at Park Circle. Its almost the same thing as saying - your cellphone wont work unless you can reach a celltower. Its the exact same idea. The exact same laws of physics (and electromagnetic waves) apply.
