trauma triage in maine

"Go to nearest Level 1 or 2 Trauma Center if total transport time is
less than 45 minutes, otherwise go to highest-level trauma center
available OR the closest ED which is a trauma system participating
hospital; any questions, contact OLMC"

========================

what if you are in rural maine - the nearest trauma center is 90
minutes away via ground - 60 minutes via helicopter - the nearest
small ED is 15 minutes away

should you head to the small ED? - do they have a helipad? is the helo
coming? can you rendezvous with the helo halfway between the scene and
the trauma center? what can the small ED do that the helo cant do? for
any medical situation

can you have the helo go to the small ED? what gives the best patient
outcome? is there a MD on the helo? would it make any difference? for
stroke and heart attack and trauma - gonna need surgery

could you fly an OR team to the small ED? a surgeon and a gas passer
and a scrub nurse - whatever that is
