1992 pumper in chinle az

https://firepics.net/MyBB/showthread.php?tid=2889&pid=221924#pid221924

it finally dawned on me how these guys operate

pagers go off - or the telephone rings - 1 paid guy is at the station
24/7 - paid guy pulls the engine onto the ramp and waits for 3 minutes
- if any other firefighters show up at the station - they either ride
on the pumper or they take the mini rescue or the tanker

each station has a total of 3 paid guys and 3 vols

this is how they cover an area larger than new england with only 5
stations and 15 paid guys and 15 vols

average response time might be 1 hour because the average run is 15 miles

dont think we have ever seen any response time statistics for the
Navajo Nation - neither police nor fire nor ambo
