rrdb has lots of info about the fire radio channels
but it does not list calfire command 8 prominently
the broadcastify feed labeled 'Mendocino County Fire and Cal Fire" has
Command 8 on priority
we think that Command 8 is a main channel for them - just a hunch
we have never figured the fire radio system out
recently listening on the scanner feed in nov 2025 - all the fire and
ems action seemed to be on XME Red which is 53.95 R - this included
paging and signing on and responding and arriving at scene and
returning to quarters - by local government units - there was no
calfire radio traffic that we heard
which leads us to believe that the radio system is set up this way -
153.95 R - paging and response for local government units
151.385 R - paging and response for Cal Fire units - and admin messages
Command 8 - command / response channel for wildfires on state
responsibility areas (SRA)
XME Blue - command / response channel for wildfires on local
responsibility areas and for structure fires
cal fire command 1 and 2 might be additional command channels
xme green might be an additinal command channel also
also - many of the VFDs have their own local channels - not sure how
they fit into the picture exactly - they might be tertiary command
channels - or they might be FG and command channels for calls that
involve just 1 FD or a couple of FDs - maybe for 'first alarms' if
they even have 'first alarms' - you know - minor fires and stinkin
badges
( cal fire has a confirmed 11-44 at 416 pm et - maybe a death -
requested mcso - already enroute maybe ) - actually - maybe was not
cal fire - was a unit with a 4 number ID iirc
