https://www.gloucester-ma.gov/Archive/ViewFile/Item/5455 seems like the firefighters took the hit in their wallets unless - they stopped sending engines to ambulance calls in the middle of the night - so the FFs wind up with more sleep time - that could have made up for the loss in pay unless they actually got a big increase in pay when going from 4 platoons to 3 platoons
