in the USA - the jargon used by fire departments is -
defensive attack - squirt water into building from outside
offensive attack - squirt water at fire from inside the building
for wildfires - the terminology is apparently not used - they use
"direct" vs "indirect" iirc - "direct" would be applying water or
retardant to flames - "indirect" would be removing fuel from in front
of the fire or maybe putting water or retardant down in front of the
flames (vs directly on top of the flames - but thats kinda fine line -
not really sure about that)
