Arlington Mass - public safety info 2019 2020

https://www.arlingtonma.gov/home/showdocument?id=46072 - 16 pages

FD average response time 3 minutes 15 seconds - I suspect that is
travel time only - or maybe dispatch till arrival - yes, based on
radio traffic I would say that 3 minutes is travel time - so you have
to add chute time and dispatcher time to that - I think that might be
a brand new statistic in this years document

no idea what the dispatch time is - but it is probably under 1 minute
- they seldom have to que / stack calls for fire or ems - they just
are not that busy - and its not that hard to dispatch for just 6
patrol cars and 3 fire stations

FD plans on all new radio gear

no mention of "saves"

PD - no mention of response times - the lead dispatcher is never heard
on the radio (I am pretty sure) - PD also has a planner now - so they
have a planner + crime analyst + patrol logistics officer - dont know
what any of them do - the "patrol officer traffic" is just 1 person
afaik

note - FT custodian at police station - would be great if that was
converted to dispatcher - same for the planner and analyst and support
person

overview - 5 square miles - 45,000 population - middle to upper class
- 3 fire stations - no murders most years - paramedics provided by
local private ambulance company - FD operates 1 BLS ambulance

the reduction in calls passed to local private ambulance might be due
to more calls being given to adjacent FD ambulances which are now ALS
(Winchester + Belmont + Lexington) - but doesnt seem to be that many
calls - certainly not 1,000 - maybe 300
