Terrible. I'm not sure a 72 year old should really be on a lawn mower.
Surely a friend or relative could have done that work for him.

let anyone mow his lawn for him when he feels capable of doing it

Reply to @Roratus: 72 is not that old-especially if the person is in
relatively good shape. I know many men (and women) in their
mid-seventies who are more than capable of doing most things they did
when they were 30 or 40.
