per weather.gov - large areas of west are under red flags today -
actually - I see that some of the posted red flags dont begin until 5
AM Weds (San Francisco area for example) - I never realized previously
that some red flags appeared before they were in effect - I thought
they showed as 'fire danger' (approx) then switched to red flag when
the red flag period began
---------
Fall Storm To Produce Widespread Snow
A strong storm system is forecast to dig across the West over the next
few days, before reaching the Plains. This powerful system is expected
to produce heavy snow from the North-Central Rockies into the Northern
Plains. Winter storm warnings/watches are already widespread across
the region. Abnormally cold temperatures are also anticipated across
the West with record lows mid to late week.
