The Arlington 911 Center will handle close to 28,000 incidents in 2019
Each case is 1 incident - no matter how many calls are received - no
matter how many units respond - each case is 1 "incident"
typical response to a police incident is 1 or 2 police cars
typical response to 1 ambulance incident is 1 police car, 1 fire
truck, 1 ambulance, and 1 paramedic unit
Some incidents will receive no actual response - like a burglar alarm
that is received, followed by a phone call within a minute or two by
the alarm company explaining that it is a accidental alarm - or the
dispatchers realize that a call is in a different town - but this is
relatively rare
Accuracy and reliability has to be very high at the 911 Center -
national standards do not exist for accuracy and reliability afaik -
it is just assumed that all calls are handled 100% perfectly - NFPA
has a standard for 911 Centers - APCO might have standards or
guidelines also - and there might be 1 or 2 certification bodies but
they are not well known nor extensively utilized
