Lexington MN has 13 paid on call firefighters

https://www.presspubs.com/quad/news/lexington-swears-in-new-fire-chief/article_3739faee-682c-11ec-98a7-ab0c4fdf0552.html

they have a baby and leave the FD after 7 years ... family life takes over

I suppose you cant pay anyone enough to seriously disrupt their family life

maybe there is no good alternative ... have firefighters from 16 to 26
and be thankful for that

35 firefighters left over 15 years ... that approximately a 10%
turnover annually

maybe more fire prevention and ems prevention is needed ... then there
will be fewer calls in the middle of the night ... or maybe more
public safety officers are needed ... at least on the overnight shifts

that could work ... paid firefighters/medics daytimes ... police can
provide fire/ems overnight

the whole concert of 'paid on call' fire/ems might need to go away ...
like in Israel or China or maybe Italy or every major city in the usa
