The Vernon Township Fire Protection Territory was formed in May of
2020. The Territory is located in the northwest corner of Hancock
County, Indiana. Vernon Township Fire Department (VTFD) protects the
citizens of the Town of Fortville, the Town of McCordsville and the
unincorporated rural area of Vernon Township. (this seems to be a
merger of the Fortville FD and the McCordsville FD ... Fortville got
new $4M fire station in 2019 ... now McCordsville wants a new $6M
station ... fire territory has been beryy berry good]
