Santa Barbara County - changing ambulance service

https://keyt.com/lifestyle/2023/04/04/changes-ahead-for-santa-barbara-county-ambulance-services/

FD buying 25 ambulances ?

AMR and FD will share calls ?

historically - santa barbara county only had 1 fire ambulance iirc -
at new cuyama - north of the mountains - AMR supplied all of the other
ambulances

the private ambulance services in california seem to be being replaced
by fire ambulances - mostly in southern california actually

not sure how santa barbara county is going to play this - presently
there are approx 50 fire stations in the county with 3 people on duty
in each station 24/7/365 - the private ambulances run with 3 man crews
and they frequently shuttle between ambulance stations to cover open
areas

would be cool if the FDs gave their off duty crews pagers and expected
them to cover their station when the primary crew is busy - if no one
was available to fill in at the vacant station - then the dispatchers
could do a moveup - and try to get off duty coverage into some other
station - or maybe they could have 2 or 3 floater engine / ambulances
/ vans
