I can hear them laughing at the infrastructure
=====
To be fair, China has issues with infrastructure as well. The term
"tofu projects" in Chinese infrastructure refers to poorly constructed
buildings and facilities, as fragile as "tofu dregs." These projects
often suffer from substandard construction quality, including the use
of inferior materials and poor workmanship. Corruption and
cost-cutting are major contributing factors, involving skimming funds,
bribery, or cutting corners, leading to compromised structural
integrity. Insufficient oversight from authorities and a lack of
stringent regulation in the construction sector allow such subpar
projects to proliferate. In the context of rapid urbanization and
economic pressure, the priority often shifts to speed over quality,
resulting in compromised construction processes. These projects pose
significant safety risks, with instances of building collapses and
infrastructure failures leading to injuries and fatalities. They may
also neglect environmental standards, contributing to environmental
degradation.
