kern county had the borel fire - started 7/24/2024

if we heard the radio tapes correctly

220 on tape - kern county fd sent 4 engines + 1 ladder + 1 rescue + 1
crew + 2 bc + 1 div chief to vehicle over the side with fire - just
east of democrat usfs station

since the fire was in the 'wilderness area' - sequoia natl forest did
not send any units - even though the democrat usfs station was 1 mile
away and the the closest kern county engine was approx 15 miles away

2900 on tape - kern county batt 7 on scene - the kern county
dispatcher told Bat 7 that usfs still had not launched any aircraft -
requested aircraft be launched

unknown if the usfs engine ever responded from democrat usfs station

this fire eventually destroyed 150 homes

someone was at the scene before bat 7 and called him via phone
apparently - they told batt 7 that the fire was at 3 acres at that
point

around 20 minutes into tape kern county dispatcher told the IC that he
had sufficient units to meet the requirement for a kern county first
alarm brush response in that area

we are not sure what this is all about - but obviously if democrat
usfs station had a 5 man engine crew on duty - and maybe a 6 person
fly crew on a helo - they could have responded immediately - and
probably extinguished the fire

no one in the fire service does after action reports anymore - right ?
